NYX is a drugstore beauty brand that has been on the market for as far as long as I can remember, delivering iconic products and staying on top of trends. It manages to bring novelty to the oversaturated makeup world, and it is able to do this at a reasonable price, for us, the customers. It carries ALL the makeup you can think of: mascaras, primers, and foundations. Absolutely everything.
Some of the most iconic products are:

- Lift& Snatch Brow Tint Pen– the best drugstore brow pen to this day, which doesn’t smudge, doesn’t bleed, and the shades are spot-on.
- Fat Oil Lip Drip– the most luscious, hydrating tinted lip oil
And with so many others, I believe everyone has a favorite iconic product.

The specific product from the brand that I want to talk about is the Line Loud Vegan Longwear Lip Liner. In my opinion, it is the most underrated product and competes with the most expensive lip liners when it comes to longevity and color range. This is the longest-lasting lip liner you could ever find. Longevity-wise, I can compare it to the high-end Natasha Denona “I Need a Nude” range liners, but at a fraction of the price.
My lip liner collection is impressive, containing both high-end and drugstore brands. I can already tell that luxury brands have more variety in the nude range, with more options to choose from. That is why I was pleasantly surprised by what NYX has to offer in this department.
The pencil comes in plastic body (barrel), unlike traditional wooden pencils, and what I love about it is that it is color-matched to the specific shade of the liner. That makes it easier to find the right shade in a cluttered makeup bag.:) If you have noticed, the wooden pencils (like the MAC ones) aren’t as long-lasting as the ones that come in a plastic barrel, and this should already tell you about the longevity of the product.
Application
The pencil has a cap that can be easily removed and also lost:)) Although it looks like a mechanical pencil, it is actually a sharpenable plastic pencil. I would recommend sharpening it right before use and immediately after, if you are using it on different people, for hygienic reasons.
Creamy and rich, it is a product I recommend working in sections with. Apply it to half of the lip, contouring the shape on the outside corners, where it is needed, but not exaggerating. Blend immediately with a fine, stiff, precision brush or a fluffy one all over the lip for an overall color. The reason to work in sections is that it sets quite fast and the product is no longer flexible, so you can’t correct or diffuse it once it dries down. For extra wear time, you can powder around the mouth, but I found that I don’t need to, because this lip liner is really resistant. You can pair it in infinite combinations, with matte or satin lipsticks, lip glosses, or even on its own as a matte lip. The formula glides on the lips so no tugging is needed. For enhancing the lip shape, you can use concealer around the lips for that contrast and a clean, polished look. And after this step, you really need to powder around the mouth.
Swatches
At this moment, there are 30 vegan shades available and I chose the most popular ones and mostly nude shades. The white shade is really interesting, it could be nice for corrections or giving light to the middle of the lip for more pout.
The vibrant, pigmented shades cover the entire lip color palette: reds, berries, nudes (warm and cool), and pinks. I appreciate that the brand has detailed descriptions of the shades, which helps a lot with online shopping, as pictures can be deceiving. I would like to point out that I swatched the pencils on my hand, as each person’s lip has a different color and hue that greatly influences a lot the final look of the lip. I am swatching two shades each time, for a better understanding of the intensity and a real comparison of undertones.

03 Goal Crusher (find here) – A mid-tone beige nude and one of my favorites. Versatile, it’s technically classified as a medium rosy taupe, so it’s a blend of pink, brown, and gray. It has a neutral undertone.
05 Global Citizen (find here)– A warm nude, that is very close in depth to Goal Crusher. It’s on the warmer side, a caramel nude with a warm yellow/peach undertone. There is no pink or gray tone showing. It has enough yellow in it to look vibrant and healthy against warm/olive skin tones.
These two are among the most popular shades, and the truth is I use them a lot too.
07 Total Baller (find here) – A rich warm brown/chocolate brown. Definitely a warm shade with a medium-to-dark depth, it’s a must-have. The warmth of the shade is clearly there, and it complements bronzy looks well. You can pair it with a lip gloss or lipstick that has a warm undertone too, like warm nudes, caramels, and honey-toned lip glosses. The latest Maybelline Lifter Gloss Honey’d collection (featured here) goes together perfectly.
13 Fierce Flirt (find here)– A lilac mauve. Finally, a drugstore pink lip liner that doesn’t look cheap. Cool-toned with a light-to-medium intensity, it complements cool-toned, soft berry lipsticks.
16 Magic Maker (find here) is a mid-tone bright orange- a warm, bright, and vivid shade.
17 Rebel Kind (find here) is one of my favorites, though not for me to wear personally, as I think is very bold. You can create that statement lip look by keeping the center of the lips a much lighter-toned lipstick or lip gloss. It is described as a chocolate brown- a medium brown with a subtle warm undertone. If the tone were more neutral, it would be an excellent dupe for “Endless Cacao” from Makeup for Ever. For an even bolder look, you can apply this shade all over the lips.
29 No Equivalent(find here) is a warm nude-brown with a rich honey-caramel tone. The best use for this shade is to create that signature 90s look of a contoured lip with a lighter center, using lipstick or lip gloss.
30 Leave a legacy (find here) is a brown-pink, deep-mauve brown. It is a mix of cool and warm tones, which makes it neutral and very versatile. It blends cool pink and warm brown tones, making it the perfect choice for a “your lips, but better” pink-brown nude look that you can even wear on its own on a daily basis. If I go for a simple. on-the-go look, I wear it just with mascara and a pinky-nude blush.
Pros
I will start with a more superficial aspect of the product, which is no less important: the packaging. It feels high-end and fancy. The writing is bold and simple, black on the color of the barrel. Each barrel has a different shade- the color that best matches the actual shade of the pencil- which makes it look luxurious and well-thought-out. The packaging is slender and shiny, and altogether they really look luxury, even though they are affordable.
Let’s talk about resistance, the reason they are being presented here. These are drugstore pencils that could easily be put in a makeup artist’s bag; they don’t smudge and they don’t bleed. Their wear time is, for me, a good 5-6 hours, even though I don’t usually powder around the mouth. This product will not let you down, it can be used for events or even on a daily basis, when you don’t want to touch up too much.
The shade selection is absolutely beautiful. There are 30 shades to choose from, from very light-even white- to the darkest black, which is uncommon for a lip liner. But “Thank you, NYX”, it was needed. Cool shades, warm shades, classic red, and vibrant pink. My favorites are the nudes, which are not easy to find in the drugstore market, but here they are in this collection.
One of the biggest advantages of this product is the price- less than $10 at the moment- and yet it still offers high-end quality.
Cons
I have seen many complaints about the fact they break when sharpened, because they too creamy. I will tell you the truth: it hasn’t happened to me so far, and I own quite a few. I am simply very careful and gentle when I sharpen them, going in slow motion, with a proper sharpener. I cannot recommend enough the one from Essence. It’s also from the drugstore and the best I’ve used so far. I even have about 4-5 backups. It is a soft, silicone and oil-infused gel formula rather than a traditional hard wax pencil.
Other complaints were about the pencils breaking when applied to the lips, also because of the creaminess. YOU DON’T NEED TO PRESS HARD. Because it is creamy, it glides, doesn’t tug at the lips, and the color pays off immediately. The pigment is there together with the creaminess, so it takes no effort to get results. Be gentle with the pencil.
It sets too fast, within seconds, leaving no time for blending or correction. My recommendation as I said before, is to work in sections.

The creaminess of the product comes from it being infused with jojoba oil and vitamin E.
